From First Sketch to Final Box: The Story Behind Our Gift Boxes

From Concept to Creation: How Our Gift Boxes Come to Life
A great gift box may look simple once it is finished, but behind every box is a detailed process of design, testing, material selection, and production.
We recently received our latest batch of gift boxes, and we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to take you behind the scenes and show you how a gift box goes from an idea to a finished product.
1. It all starts with the product
Before a box can be designed, we need to know exactly what it needs to hold.
The factory starts by working from the actual dimensions of the product — its length, width, height, shape, and any other details that might affect how it sits inside the box. These measurements are then used to create a technical drawing of the packaging.
This is where the practical side of the design comes in: how the box will fold, where the cuts and creases need to be, how the product will fit inside, and how the finished box will be assembled.
2. From technical drawing to first prototype
Once the technical design is ready, the factory creates an initial prototype.
At this stage, we can see the design in physical form rather than just on paper. We check the dimensions, proportions, opening mechanism, product fit, and overall construction.
This is also the stage where small adjustments can make a big difference. Sometimes a fold needs to move, a panel needs to be slightly wider, or the structure needs to be reinforced.
The prototype allows us to identify and solve these details before mass production begins.
3. Choosing the right material
The structure is only one part of creating the perfect box. The material also plays a major role in how the finished product looks and feels.
The factory presents us with different material variations, allowing us to compare options for colour, texture, thickness, finish, and overall appearance.
We consider not only how the material looks, but also how it works with the construction of the box and the product it needs to hold.
Once the material and structure are decided, we're ready for the next step.
4. The first finished piece
Before producing the entire order, the factory cuts a first production piece using the agreed specifications and materials.
This is our final opportunity to check everything together: the dimensions, construction, material, finish, and overall appearance of the box.
We review and approve this first piece before giving the go-ahead for the full production run.
5. From one box to an entire series
Once the first piece has been approved, the factory moves into mass production.
What started as a technical drawing and a single prototype is now produced as a complete series, with the approved specifications and materials used throughout the production process.
It is a step-by-step process, but each stage matters. Taking the time to test the structure, compare materials, and approve the first finished piece helps ensure that the final series meets the intended specifications.
And now… they're here! 🎁
We're happy to say that our new gift boxes have just arrived, and our stock is now fully replenished.
After going through the entire process — from technical design and prototypes to material selection, approval, and mass production — it's always exciting to finally see the finished boxes arrive and ready to be used.
Our gift boxes are now in full stock and ready for your next order.
